CARD DAY

I am bringing you my very first CARD DAY Post for THE STORY MATTERS!
That's right!
Each month, on the 12th and 24th,
I will be bringing you a post dedicated just for cards.
If you're not a card-maker...DON'T CHANGE THE CHANNEL!
I want to help you guys think differently about your supplies,
and help you create mini works of art that you can share with your friends and family.

About 3 years ago, I was invited to participate in World Card Making Day.
I dreaded every second of it... because I was not a Card-Maker.
But I never give up on anything.. so I kept trying.
And then one day it hit me!
CREATE A MINI LAYOUT.

So that's how I start every single card I make.
I start with a cardstock base.
No most cards are 4.25 x 5.5", but whoever stays in that box?
So you will see all different shapes and sizes in my cards.

Do you want to know what else is fabulous about cards?
It is a great way to use up the scraps from your kits.
I always have 1 button, or a small piece of paper left over.
So instead of sweeping them into your scrap pile, sit down and make a card.

Almost every time I sit down and create...
I make a layout or two... and then I use the things left on my desk to create a card.

I hope this inspires you ANTI- Card-Makers to give it a try.
And I will be bringing you CARD inspiration TWICE each month.

So here are a couple of cards using OCTOBER's KIT.
"Happy Fall"
For this card I layered a patterned paper on top of a cardstock base.
I then added a scalloped trim ( made using an edge punch)
and then added another solid cardstock on top of the 1 piece.

I added a trim using the fancy tape,
and added a little raffia as a ribbon.

A few alpha stickers and a button... and it was done.

"Thankful"
This was a super easy card.
I used the green cardstock in the kit to create a base.
I cut a small scrap of paper, and added a punched edge piece to one side.
I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around it and tied a bow.
I then adhered it with pop dots to the top corner.
A few more alpha Stickers and this beauty was complete.

I hope you guys will join me each CARD DAY,
an I would love to see your cards,
so don't forget to upload them into the gallery.
